Parish Council Meeting April 2009


·         Kent Highway Services have confirmed that an interactive speed sign is due to be sited at the south end of Dean Street during the current financial year, in an effort to combat speeding motorists;
·         Despite the apparent reluctance of Kent Highway Services to solve the problems of inappropriate vehicles using Farleigh Bridge, the Parish Council is determined to press for an engineering solution;
·         A local contractor has been commissioned to undertake a spring tidy up of verges and hedgerows around the village;
·         The Parish Council is to re-investigate the possibility of refurbishing the surface of the rural footway running alongside Heath Road from Hunton Hill to Gallants Lane;
·         Kent Police have advised that PC Lee Tallon will be assigned to the Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team in June 2009, to cover East Farleigh amongst other parishes;
·         Investigations are underway to determine whether it will be possible to site some further dog fouling bins around the village;
·         The Parish Council is to undertake due diligence of the John Bunyan Leaver Charity with a view to meeting the allotment charity‘s board of trustees’ requirement to retire en bloc;
·         An application is to be made to purchase a seat for the Vicarage Lane Recreation Ground from funds made available from the Mayor of Maidstone’s Charity Fund;
·         The Village Plan is close to being published and a special launch day will be arranged during the summer to bring it to the attention of residents of East Farleigh;
·         Cllr John Wilson and Pam Clark attended a Planning Information Day, organised by the Kent Association of Local Councils, on 28 March 2009;
·         The East Farleigh Annual Parish Meeting will be held in the Old School Hall in Lower Road, East Farleigh, on Tuesday 5 May 2009 commencing at 7.30 pm. The Mayor of Maidstone will be in attendance and the guest speaker will be Ian Paterson, the Community Rail Partnership Project Officer at Action with Communities in Rural Kent;
·         The next monthly Parish Council meeting will be held in the Old School Hall, Lower Road, East Farleigh, on Tuesday 12 May 2009, commencing at 7.30pm.
